In Suburbs, Reminder of Horror
The new Holocaust Memorial Center of Michigan in suburban Detroit is to open April 5. While many of the twenty other Holocaust museums in the U.S. have incorporated references to concentration camps in their architecture, the Michigan center goes further. Read how in the New York Times March 16 article In Suburbs, Reminder of Horror.

The difficult problems museums (in the case of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the surrounding community) face in trying to represent and commemorate the Holocaust are tackled in the new documentary THE HOLOCAUST EXPERIENCE. In the words of Philosophy Professor Raphael Sassower (University of Colorado), "[THE HOLOCAUST EXPERIENCE] means to offend some of our presuppositions and to challenge us to rethink what is and what isn't an appropriate way of thinking about or remembering the Holocaust."
