Self-Effacing Scholar Is Psychiatry's Gadfly
The front page of the Science Section of today's New York Times features a profile of Dr. David Healy, who, in 1997, established himself as a leading historian of modern psychiatry with the book "The Antidepressant Era." He is better known recently for insisting in interviews and scientific papers that antidepressants could increase the risk of suicide, and for being a vocal critic of the overuse of antidepressants.

Co-written by Ray Moynihan, an internationally respected health journalist, the popular First Run/Icarus Films release SELLING SICKNESS features Dr. Healy, along with commentary from paid medical consultants to the drug companies, patients, researchers, patient advocates, advertisers, and attorneys, to expose the unhealthy relationship between society, marketing, and the pharmaceutical industry.
