U.S. Intelligence Offers Gloomy Outlook for Iraq
As reported in the New York Times (Reuters), a U.S. intelligence report prepared for President Bush in July offered a gloomy outlook for Iraq through the end of 2005, with the worst scenario being a deterioration into civil war.
What is daily life in Baghdad like now for one Iraqi family? In the new release DAILY BAGHDAD, acclaimed French director Romain Goupil follows the family of a former Republican Guard who now struggles to make a living as a deliveryman. Instead of the violent scenes so familiar from the evening news, the film reveals "normal" life; breakfasts, getting the children ready for school, traffic jams, the markets, neighbors, and the struggle to earn a living. As a result, the film offers us a rarely-seen view of Iraq today, as the family shares their vision of the war, their life today, and their vision of the future for themselves and their country.
